Hey, that was a great podcast. You two complement each other in the live format and it is great that you don't think exactly the same. Yes, Minna's positivity presents a counterweight to the more "negative" Philips. (Realist is the better descriptor.) Thanks for enlightening us and I hope you have some impact on the thinking of some of our world leaders. In Europe, that is a possibility I suppose; in America, the administration is beyond hope.
Excellent. Do more of this double act. Very engaging. My question is something Minna said about public opinion in Finland and Baltics. If more than 70% of their populations don't believe that the US would fight with its European allies if they were attacked, let's say by Russia for sake of argument, then why are we bothering to even pretend that the US is an ally? NATO can be reformulated relying on a ramping up of Canada. It will take time of course, but the US is never going to be what it was decades ago. That type of Atlanticism is dead.
Thank you both for doing this and uploading, just watched it. Very informative. Trump really wants Europe to fall in line with the USA. Today he put a 30% tariff on EU trade. That's really gonna help, not. Also the point of mass EU spending on militairy while the system is broken, fair point. I like the idea though of maintaining 30 instead 130 similar systems. I understand the EU is working on further standardization amongst the member countries. It's a bit odd though that the UK remains (and rightly so) a part of our European security strategy, while it stays out of the EU. Finally, yes I would like a special on militairy tech.
I have been wondering about whether all the looting of washing machines, etc, that happened at the start of the full scale invasion has stopped or whether it is just not being reported any more?
Loved Phillips's description of the Anglo-American "Special Relationship" as a "cargo cult" because it doesn't really exist. I quite agree and have said so for years. Saying that cost me a grant years ago when I was a postgrad researcher because the British donor couldn't handle the dissent. Times are different now.

Nice to hear and thank you for the question. I’m sure Canadians would be happy to hear you have such faith in them ;)
This was such a good discussion; Minna is awesome, and the two of you really had a great back-and-forth. I hope you do it again soon!
Thank you ! Great to hear. We had fun so will definitely do this again !
Minna is very astute!
Thank you, very kind !

You can only loot of your newly conquered territory.
As Phillips stated several times already: the land grab is minimal and mostly farmland.
