Thanks. Excellent episode. It’s amazing to me tgat Ukraine is doing as well as it is when Russia can attack anything, anywhere in Ukraine and Ukraine is not allowed to use many of its weapons to attack anywhere in Russia.
Great podcast. A couple of things occurred to me while listening. 1. If it appeared that China was about to invade Taiwan and was amassing a huge invasion force in Xiamen do you think the US would forbid Taiwan from striking with ranged weapons that force on Chinese soil? The US would prevent a pre-emptive strike but surely they wouldn’t stop strikes on Chinese soil after the invasion began. Something for Taiwan to worry about in light of what’s happening in Ukraine.
2. What would NATO’s response be if Russia used nuclear weapons in the Ukraine-Russia war? I would expect Russia has been warned by the US that if nuclear weapons are used in Ukraine then Russia can expect an equal and punishing nuclear strike on them. Stoltenberg should be asked this point blank. Biden too. In other words does Russia’s nuclear sabre-rattling escalate NATO’s potential response. One way to shut Russia up is to emphasize NATO’s nuclear response to the use of nuclear weapons by Russia. Maybe that would get Russia to shut up. I know no one wants a pissing contest but Russia’s nuclear sabre-rattling has to stop.
Interesting question on Taiwan--havent thought about it in that way before. Need to think about it. I think NATO would strike Russia hard--or break apart.
If Russia were to used a nuclear weapon in Ukraine, I think NATO would strike back hard, but not with nuclear weapons. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think a massive, sustained conventional response against Russian forces in and around Ukraine could get the point across without nuclear escalation.
Thank you again for your insights on this pressing world matter. I cannot help wondering what the results of the next election will bring to the war effort. In that vein, I have tried once again to donate to the suggested charity with payment from my bank card denied. And yes, there is money in the account.^^ Any easy fixes for this issue? I know others had similar problems. We as individuals may need to step up our support. It is time, n'est-ce-pas?
You would need to call your credit card company. Most likely they think it is a fraudulent transaction, because it doesn’t look like your normal pattern of activity. If you call your credit card company, you can probably get them to allow the transaction to go through.

Agree with this

Yes. Agree. NATO would have to break apart if it didn’t. No doubt.

I really dont know what to recommend. I know some cards have difficulty getting through to CBA. Mine did at first, but then worked

Thanks!
Regarding Elon Musk limiting what Ukraine can use Starlink for, the man exhibits highly emotional decision-making.
