Hello All,

Well, Donald Trump did not end the war in four months, let alone 24 hours. In the last few days he has even tacitly admitted defeat (while claiming victory) by stating that it will be up to Russia and Ukraine to negotiate an end to the fighting. In the short term this almost certainly means no ceasefire and a continuation of the war. Russia looks set to keep attacking this summer (not a bad thing from the Ukrainian perspective) to try and seize as much territory as possible. The Russian calculation, which is not insensible, is that with the US leaving the field and Trump moving closer to Putin, they can continue the war on the assumption that they will get more support and Ukraine less. Of course, the Russians are not as strong as Putin thinks, and Ukrainian military capacities are also improving in certain areas. As such, I thought I would put together this descriptive list of the six most important issues to which to pay attention for the coming months as the war continues.
