Of course, it was only half the story. There is another truth in the evolution of US politics that needs to be acknowledged. The gross enrichment that Presidents and their families have undertaken since the 1980s is venal and destabilizing, but it arguably falls withing the character of what might be classified classic governmental corruption. The second truth is actually worse and needs to be faced as it has eroded the very nature of what US parties are for. Trump was helped in his quest for power by the way that two families had basically made the parties of the US vehicles for their own advancement.

Earlier Dynasties

Yes, US politics has long been populated by wealthier people and those from more elite backgrounds. The US Constitutional Convention of 1787 was made up of arguable the richest group of US citizens ever gathered in one place to that time. There have also been different political dynasties—though they are very different from what happened between 1980 and 2016.

Lets take a look at what are arguably the three greatest dynasties in US politics until 1980; The Adamses, The Roosevelts, and, The Kennedys.

Even a quick glance over the length of their power and there methods of operations calls into doubt that these were anything like dynasties.
