Just some quick thoughts on what the Vance selection means for Ukraine, and the race overall.

JD Vance and Ukraine: We can say now what Trump wants--and its not good

Trump and Vance at the announcement just an hour ago.

So in the end, Trump went full on for MAGA-Loyalty. In selecting JD Vance as his Vice-Presidential running mate, Trump chose someone who has been relentlessly lathering him in praise for years (after spending years despising him). The last few days Vance has been particularly unctuous.

I asked a senior Republican who I’ve been in touch with for years, (he/she is a strong supporter of Ukraine) and they were extremely depressed about the choice—and basically I was told this means Ukraine was “toast” if Trump wins.
